as we rolled into the heart of the city, what did we see? we saw a pizza delivery bike, of course.

here's a view of the subway tracks. i forget if this was the 42nd st. stop or grand central station.

this is on display in the metropolitan museum of art. i don't know who painted these canvasses, but this is just a wall of color. i wasn't that impressed.

this was kinda cool. i have a closer shot, but it's a bit blurry.

this piece is some sort of metal structure with silk flowers and some other stuff attached to it, then coated in black wax and hung from the rafters. it looks like a big water buffalo dingleberry. *

mark tansey paints by coating a canvas with oils and other paints and then scraping it OFF to create his image. all his works are monochromatic and often surreal. i think this one's called "prize holstein" or something like that. i didn't see any of his other works, which was odd. more images of tansey's work are here.

here's the front of the MET when we left around 5:30.

light was pouring from this red doorway, so i had to take a picture. it actually looked better from the other side, but there were too many people walking by. plus, the light doesn't seem as warm as it did in real life. i have failed...

kathleen found this big, grayish-white flag interesting. it looks like it's made of paste and paper, but i'm not sure.

i took a bunch of shots while walking down the streets. they all look pretty much like this.

becky is blurry. actually, becky was sick. she's such a trooper. we walked all over and went to the museum, but she picked herself up and did it.

becky and kathleen were standing on the corner, probably wondering why i was taking their picture and where we were going.

still on the corner, i snapped another picture. the guy in the diner looks like he has a fluorescent light for eyes.

times square at night is all lights and people.

i don't know which building this is. it's big and lit like a candle, though.

the scene at the tree in rockefeller center was a nightmare. people swarmed all around, making it difficult to get anywhere near it or the ice skating rink. bah!

we waited for daniel and cecilia to meet us at the restaurant. while we waited (and starved), we hung out upstairs in the barnes & noble book store. jeff looks like a greaser.

kathleen and i are starving. well, at least i was. i was very cranky.
